After breakfast, drive to the 9th Century Prambanan Temple. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of many temples with sharp, jaggedly sculpted towers, the tallest of which rises a staggering 47 meters into the sky. As you walk, your guide will take you through the fascinating history, legends and symbolism behind these temples. Next, visit the Sultan's Palace, constructed in 17th century, is a fine example of traditional Javanese sultanate architecture. As the residence of the Sultan, this living museum features a showcase of Javanese culture and relics, and depending on your day of visiting there will be a cultural performance. Also visit Taman Sari Water Palace, the addition to the royal complex which was built over 200 years ago by the first Sultan with bathing pools for his harem. After lunch, you will visit a home batik, as well as a small artisan Wayang Kulit home (the famous Javanese leather puppet) where a short demonstration will be performed.
