We recommend, that on your way north, to go on the two- hour boat trip (not included) to see the Vestmanna Cliffs. Vestmanna Cliffs, Lunch, SagaMuesum. Tour starts with a boat trip to the Vestmanna Cliffs. You sail into grottos, through narrow sounds, and close to the high vertical cliffs. Through 17 very life-like figures, placed in very realistic surroundings you can follow the dramatic history of the Faroe Islands. (available in June, July and August - May and September on request). Continue on to the village of Tjornuvik, that is surrounded by steep mountains. Here you can see the impressive rock formations the Giant and the Witch. Cross the bridge, that connects the islands of Eysturoy and Streymoy, and continue to the village of Eidi. Hotel Runavik

A cosy homey hotel is centrally located and overlooks the scenic Skalafjordur. You will find near the harbour, lovely shops and Eysturoyartunnilin, the subsea tunnel that connects Skslafjordur and Torshavn. The beautiful landscapes of lake Toftavatn are also within easy reach. Enjoy the day in scenic village of Gjogv, which is known for its unique natural harbor and a beautiful view of the island of Kalsoy. The natural harbor is an attraction everyone should take time to see. Walk along the edge of the crevice, and you might see some puffins coming out of their nests, on their way out to the ocean, to get food for their young. At the end of the crevice, facing the open ocean, it is possible to enjoy the view from Crown Princess Mary’s Bench. If you walk up the hillside you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the bird cliffs and the village. Overnight in Gjogv.

Hotel Gjaargardur

So far away, yet so close. Far away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by beautiful nature, lies Gjáargarður – one of the coziest hotels in the Faroe Islands. Gjáargarður has a total of 23 good and light double bedrooms with toilet and shower. All bedrooms have an extra bed available. 11 standard bedrooms are in the main building. 12 superior bedrooms are in the new adjacent low-rise building. From Leirvik you drive through the sub-sea tunnel to the town of Klaksvik. The tunnel is decorated with lights by the famous Faroese artist Trondur Patursson. While staying in Klaksvik, we recommend exploring the area with a self-guided tour. From Klaksvik it is possible to explore the other Northern Islands, each offering dramatic landscapes. On the island of Vidoy lies the most northern village in the Faroe Islands, Vidareidi, which definitely is worth a visit. Overnight in Klaksvik.

We suggest that you visit the island of Kunoy. From the tiny village of Kunoy is a beautiful view of the island of Kalsoy. Above the village is a small cozy park. A local legend tells that up on a high mountain in Kunoy lies a plank from Noah’s ark. Clams and sea shells grow on it. People, who have gotten lost in the fog have seen the plank, but no one who has gone looking for it has ever found it. Back on Eysturoy we recommend driving towards the village of Toftir to drive to Torshavn through the new subsea tunnel. Overnight in Torshavn.

We suggest to visit the beautiful and green island of Sandoy, also called the Saga-island. The island is, compared to the other islands, characterized by mostly flat terrain. The island has a wealth of history and wonderful nature. Experience the new 10,8 km subsea tunnel, which opened between the ferry harbour Gamlaraett and the island of Sandoy in 2023. Do not miss the villages of Dalur and Husavik which lie in beautiful surroundings. Overnight in Torshavn.
