In the heart of Downtown San Jose, Costa Rica, the Hotel Presidente is located on the corner of the Central Avenue Pedestrian Boulevard and Seventh Street, just 20 minutes from the San Jose, Costa Rica International Airport.
Today you will meet a local representative who will transfer you from San Jose to Arenal. You will be picked up at your hotel to go all the way to El Silencio Private Reserve, to reach as close to the Arenal Volcano as permitted by car. From there, you will begin a 1 km walk along a trail of volcanic rock to reach the observation point. At the observation point, your guide will provide interesting information regarding the formation of the Arenal Volcano, its periods of activity, and unedited details of its major eruption in 1968, as well as giving you the opportunity to enjoy the incredible views of the Arenal Volcano and the Arenal Lake. Afterwards, you will begin your return trip down the same trail to the starting point. For the next stage of the expedition, you will change scenery and enter into the regenerating forest and small area of primary rainforest found at the base of the Arenal Volcano. After the trails, your driver will be waiting for you, with a delicious snack of tropical fruit, before returning you to your hotel in La Fortuna to enjoy the remainder of your stay.

Situated in Fortuna, Arenal Volcano Inn is in a rural location and close to Arenal Volcano National Park. The property has 25 rooms, all with excellent views of the Arenal Volcano.
Arenal Lake is the largest and most important lake in Costa Rica. It was man-made, in 1974, in order to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is the home of different kinds of resident and migratory birds, including flycatchers, kingfishers, great blue herons and the anhinga. Some mammals, such as howler monkeys, can also be spotted on its banks. On clear days, the views of the volcano seen from the lake are spectacular. For this tour you will visit a 28ha/70 acre private reserve located near the marvelous region of Monteverde, only a short drive from downtown Santa Elena. The tour begins with a short, guided hike that will take you through primary (old growth) and secondary (new growth) forests. Once you arrive at the beginning of the zip line system, your guides will provide you with all necessary equipment (helmets, vests, and gloves) and impart a safety orientation before your adventure begins. You will fly through the treetops, becoming one with the canopy as you glide at a heart racing pace down 15 steel cables (ranging from 60mts/197ft. to 800mts/2624ft. in length) anchored to tree platforms. During your journey, you will have the opportunity to do some wildlife spotting, especially when it comes to bird species. The forests in Monteverde are teeming with life and this zip line tour gives you the chance to observe this precious ecosystem from a unique perspective. At the end of your canopy run, you will have the option of enjoying some rappel; descending down the 'Scary Tree' (the name of this tree says it all!).
