Hol Chan is one of the world's most popular sites for a snorkeling adventure, and for good reason. Here you'll find that thousands of large and small fish inhabit this magnificent underwater ecosystem, which is recognized by Belize and designated as a national park as well as UNESCO which has listed the area as a World Heritage Site. To be sure, Hol Chan, or "Little Channel," which cuts all the way through the reef, lives up to its reputation as one of the world's best dive sites. Breathtaking coral of striking variety abounds, serving as a habitat for countless of species of fish. It's a marine wonderland that every snorkeler, from the earliest beginner and to the most advanced and experienced, should see and will enjoy. Today's Hol Chan experience culminates with an exciting "swim with the sharks" experience. Alongside the sharks and stingrays in Shark Ray Alley, you will float and observe as, with luck, dozens of nurse sharks circle the boat; a uniquely Caribbean welcoming committee. When you enter the water, you can observe the activities of these friendly sharks and rays up close and personal; at least if you're adventurous and not faint of heart. Before long though after a memorable adventure, you'll be returned to land.
