Pick up in the San Jose Metropolitan Area at the hotel. Breakfast at Rio Danta's restaurant located in Guapiles. After breakfast, continue to Cano Blanco dock, passing banana plantations along the way. Arrive and check in to your hotel in the early afternoon. After lunch, visit Tortuguero Town and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation's visitor center and turtle museum (about 2 hours). Return to Manatus Hotel for dinner with the remainder of your evening at leisure.

On this adventure, wrapped with private transfers, you'll walk through the lush rainforest at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Your local guide will lead you along a 1.2-mile (2 kilometer) trail that winds through both primary and secondary forests. As you ascend toward the volcano's old lava formations, you'll learn about the history of Arenal and discover the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this iconic region. Along the way, you'll be rewarded with majestic views of Lake Arenal and the continental divide. The Rocks Workshop is a unique add-on to the Arenal Volcano hike. Upon reaching the ancient lava flows at the highest point of the trail, you'll participate in a hands-on lava rock workshop. Here, you'll learn to identify and classify different types of volcanic rocks. Your guide will provide tools such as pickaxes and magnifying glasses to help you examine rock characteristics based on crystal density, including minerals like pyroxenes, olivine, and plagioclases.

Today, enjoy a private chocolate tour at Two Little Monkey's, followed by a Sloth spotting experience. Throughout the tour, you will discover the intricate art of chocolate-making and learn about the cultural and social impact of cacao in history. The tour will begin with a brief walk through the organic farm where you will be introduced to cacao trees, exotic fruit trees, spices and more. You will then use ancient Mayan tools & recipes to freshly grind cacao to make two traditional chocolate drinks. Finish your chocolate experience by molding and decorating your own chocolate bars to take home. Later, enjoy a delightful wildlife adventure in this private reserve. Guided by the experts, you'll explore a short trail through a lush gallery forest filled with towering trees and vibrant vegetation. Along the way, you may encounter sloths in their natural habitat, known for their slow-moving, deliberate lifestyle and unique adaptations. These fascinating creatures have a low metabolic rate, which allows them to thrive on a diet mainly of leaves, and their remarkable camouflage helps them blend seamlessly into the trees. You might also observe their distinctive three-toed or two-toed features and the occasional fluffy green algae that grows on their fur, providing additional camouflage. In addition to sloths, you'll have the chance to spot a variety of birds, lizards, and frogs, enhancing your wildlife experience. This enchanting outing offers a perfect blend of nature and discovery, making it an ideal adventure for the entire family. At the end of the experience, you'll be returned to your hotel.
